Terrorist odd one out competition

All of the following casualties were injured by the Israeli Defence Force. Can you spot which one is the odd one out?

Backwards Cambridge

It's been a while since I had a post on how backwards Cambridgeshire can be. However picking up a copy of the Cambridge Evening News can reveal a goldmine of information on how dim people round here can be sometimes.

Al Franken wins Minnesota

Good elections are like fine wines - you really can't rush them. Yes, sixty two days does seem like quite a while to count votes, but you can't rush these machines you know. If only the state could have afforded those new fangled boxes that you put the slips of paper in.

Ten Links

Ten links that I thought might be of interest;

  1. Richard Gott on the way forward in Cuba.

  • Hanley for Hackney is bigging up Matt Hanley who's standing in the Stoke Newington by-election. We came second last time and Matt is in good spirits. Why not lend a hand!
  • Protests against the slaughter in Gaza

    I had a weird night and so didn't end up going to the national demo after all today, I feel suitably guilty. As an extremely lame substitute I thought I'd round up the reports;

    Big Brother

    I was never into Big Brother until George Galloway made an appearance in the celebrity version a couple of years back. It was essentially some the best TV that has ever been broadcast rivalling even The Wire, another show about surveillance, and the series had me hooked. It then went back to the ordinary version where fools have rows with each about how much toast they eat or whatever and I turned away again.

    Flogging, the new vote winner?

    At some point in the dim and distant past Labour decided that the public wants authoritarianism. If anyone was to bring back the death penalty I think it's a fair bet that it would Gordon's Gang who'd offer to personally slip the noose round the necks of miscreants and criminals, but only if there was a handy camera crew to capture the moment - and I'd always thought it was the Tories who were into flagellation.

    BBC puts standards aside: yes, it's Clarkson again

    Some might say that horrible Clarkson fellow is an easy target, certainly he was to pie throwers a while back.

    More political influences: music

    A little while ago I was asked to compile a kind of reading list of the books that shaped my initial political development. They weren't the kind of books I'd necessarily go for today but were important to me as I came to a more coherent political position.

    Top ten predictions for 2009

    You've all been waiting for my top ten predictions for 2009 haven't you? Well, here they are. You may notice some of them are not entirely wild speculation, and many of them are not very cheery, apologies.
